What I believe The world needs

My nature

My entire life has been lived sharing a profound respect for nature.  An understanding of nature and my environment has urged me to move forward on a cleanup initiative. Let’s face it, pretty much all of us contribute to the destruction of our environment. We live in a world choked with manufacturing. over producing, and a steadily decreasing supply, of natural resources. Don’t get me wrong, I have a big flat screen TV and a smart phone. It is foolish in a lot of ways to abandon technological progress in fear of harming the environment. It is the method and the means of how we manufacture these products that ultimately harms our planet and probably beyond. If we could use a cleaner more efficient means of energy the world would be in much better shape. Fossil fuel could be used in a limited fashion and other forms of energy could be utilized to handle the majority of the job. There are a lot of things we can do. It is going to take time and more struggle than should ever be necessary to get this done. I would think it would not be a hard sell to convince people that taking care of ourselves and our environment is necessary, but here we are.

What we can do

Even though the task seems impossible at times, there are brilliant efforts that are yielding results in an effort to clean up our oceans. More efforts are being made to improve the environment every day. At the same time, at every step, The policies and people who are helping to manage all of these efforts in a large-scale are being defunded and removed from influence. So what can we do about this while we see all of our educators and environmental authorities disappear? We can do our part on an individual level. We can come together and start in our own neighborhoods. I know that other people have to see all of the trash that is blowing around all over your neighborhoods. What I suggest is that we clean it up. I have started doing this myself.

Do it yourself

After passing by a popular department store in my neighborhood, I noticed a large consistent amount of trash around the side of the building. It was a lot of trash. It looked like maybe 3 or 4 large bags of trash had been strewn about a small green space next to the store. The next time I went to the store I asked the cart guy that was outside why no one ever cleaned up the trash. He looked at me like I was insane and told me that if I did not like it I should clean it myself. I decided that was a great idea and I cleaned it up and disposed of the rubbish. It was that easy. I just did it myself and now my neighborhood is a little bit nicer.

Time to get started.

Our goal is to have organized 3 clean up projects by September. Clean up projects may include the restoration of an area. For instance  find a small park or a historical cemetary that has been left alone and forgotten. Find any spot that needs a good sprucing up. One of our main initiatives is to clean up litter, junk, and random debris. For some reason in our neighborhood there quite a few empty Cheeto bags laying around. Who knows?

Cleaning up our own neighborhood is a great place to start. Maybe there is a park or nature conservatory that you know of where you could simply walk around and pick up the bits of trash that people carelessly discard. Maybe there is an old Bridge in the park that needs to be rebuilt or reinforced. We have gotten into the habit of picking up the litter in our neighbirhood. It is time to spread out.

Let’s get this movement rolling! I urge you to get involved. Create a clean up and post your results. Let us know. Become a garbage picker and make the world a cleaner beautiful place.

A site will be chosen soon.

My beautiful world.

For me, there is satisfaction in gardening. I think it is one of the best ways to make a contribution to the environment. I live in a pretty nice apartment and I am fortunate enough to have a decent patio.

Even though we do not have a huge yard, we still maintain a limited but functional high yield garden. We grow things we know we can use. Tomatoes, varieties of peppers, cucumber, fresh herbs, flowers.

We use cucumbers to make pickles. We use tomatoes for canning and maranara. We use our fresh herbs for just about anything, including brewing fresh herbal teas. Maney of our flowers can be used as accents in tea as well.

Growing sunflowers is very practical. Plus, I just think they are cool looking. It takes some time and work, but it beats sitting around watching TV on a beautiful day.

A garden is a great contribution. Typically just a few plants can sustain two people and produce enough of a yield for canning. Canning is an excellent way to enjoy what you reap all year long.

Since gardening is a way to give back to the Earth, it is a fitting addition to the content that we will provide on this website.
You can also look forward to culinary tips and examples of a few ways we can create great things with what we have in our gardens and beyond.
